Coming!

a-to-z-letters-cI once made the mistake of heading out the door before my husband while a “very important” game was on TV. Since he had the car keys, I had to wait for him at the bottom of the stairs.

Growing impatient I headed back up in an attempt to expedite the process. Halfway up I called his name.

I heard the words, “coming” followed by the jingling of keys. I rounded the corner to see my husband standing in the same spot I left him, his gaze fixed fiercely on the game, his arm outstretched toward the door shaking a set of keys.

Busted!

My husband’s stall tactic was quickly found out. No, he wasn’t coming. He just wanted me to think he was.

In the Bible, Jesus tells us He is coming back for us. That in His Father’s house are many dwelling places and that He is going to prepare a place for us.

John 14:3 “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I WILL come again and receive you to Myself that where I am, there you may be also.”

He WILL come. He’s not delayed or distracted watching the big game.

And, He’s not just rattling his keys at us. He is really coming!

    1. When my kiddos were about five, they each painted a watercolor picture of their castle in heaven. I framed them together with this verse – about Him preparing a place for us. I absolutely love it.

  1. I guess all husband are like that 🙂 My hubby will avoid saying coming for a long time, then after me calling him several times he replies. And still doesn’t come until I say again… TV and games have them all glued!!!
