The Easy Button

a-to-z-letters-eeas•y – /ˈēzē/ – (adj)– achieved without great effort, presenting few difficulties.

Where is that stupid easy button?

Staples may have coined the phrase, but office supply purchasing isn’t really at the top of my list in my desire for easy.

Easy dinner ideas? Yes.

Easy parenting tips? Yes.

Easy dieting tips? Yes.

Easy exercising? Yes.

The list goes on…

Seems to me that life is anything but easy today. And yet I keep striving for it.

Did you know that Scripture mentions the word “easy” very little? I know, shocker.

However, the one that instantly comes to my mind is:

Mat 11:28 30 “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is EASY and My burden is light.”

Leave it to Jesus to finally give us something easy. When nothing else in this world is. This world makes us weary and heavy laden.

But He gives us rest for our soul.

As I consider that a yoke is a wooden beam that connects two together, I then see why it’s easy. Because He already bore the weight of the beam. He carried the load that I could not.

And because of that, I now get the easy.
